I have to disagree with you tiffany. I think the Epsom salts completes the whole bathing experience. Bath salts without Epsom salts is okay but bath salts with Epsom salts is better.

I've read a lot of recipes that call for Epsom salts. It's a nice addition, however, it's not necessary to use them. In our salts, we use sea salt.

Simply using sea salt makes a really nice, smooth salt. It requires a fair amount of mixing, but the results are great.

You have to find a balance between your salts and liquids. Experiment. If you've used too much liquid (scent/essential oils/perfumes), you'll know it. The salt will look and feel wet. So you have to try different amounts till you find something you like.

Adding botanicals is a great addition as well. It's almost like a "two in one" product. You get your "bath tea" AND a bath salt. You can't beat that! In our Lull-a-bye salts (lavender), we add lavender flowers and other botanicals. It makes for a fantastic bath, and leaves your skin really soft. The salts draw out all the impurities, and the botanicals and essential oils put all the good stuff back in. It's what I call a nutritious bath!
