Webkinz are basically stuffed animals that come with a secret code to be used online. Each code unlocks the online version of your Webkinz stuffed animals. You start off by adopting your pet, naming it, and learning how to take care of it online.You can adopt as many pets as you want on one account. If you are looking to buy Webkinz stuffed animals for more than one kid, you'll want to set up separate accounts for them. While you'll have extra log in information to keep track of, the online experience is better if each child has their own account.
The online part of the Webkinz stuffed animals is really best for kids who can read, although younger kids (5 and up) can do quite a bit of things on their own. You'll still want to help them out a bit though, showing them the different things they can do online with their Webkinz.
Webkinz Online
The site is pretty easy to navigate. Kids as young as 5 can easily play with a little bit of help. My 7 year old can navigate pretty well on his own, and he's pretty good on a computer. Even still, there are some areas he needs a bit of help with.To start, you need your secret code that comes with your Webkinz stuffed animal. First you set up an account, enter your code, and adopt your pet. It's pretty simple. The pets all get their own room, and a few special items specifically for them. You also get some KinzCash to start.
Earning KinzCash is also pretty simple. There's lots of things you can do once a day, including taking a spin on the Wheel of Wow for a chance to earn KinzCash, and making wishes in the wishing well. You can also play games to earn extra cash, but the fastest way is to do quiz questions. As a parent, this is my favorite part of the site because they really do learn quite a bit with the questions.
The number of games and activities to do on the site really is amazing. They have arcade games, card games, safe chat rooms, quizes, and lots of activities. You even have the option of buying different toys and appliances for your pet's room to keep them entertained. So far in the first week we've bought (for two different pets) sandwich makers, bath tub, sink, a garden, skateboard they can ride, trampoline, a blender, and a coloring book. Then of course there's a few items just for decoration added to the room as well.
You'll need to take care of your Webkinz stuffed animals online by feeding them and making sure they are healthy. You can buy food for them in the W-shop, or grow food in your own garden. It takes several days for the food to grow, but it can really save on your grochery bill. There's appliances you can buy to make your own special foods with blenders, sandwich makers, and stoves. My kids love to make sandwiches and smoothies!
Pets can not die, but they can get sick. Loging in on a regular basis to take care of them prevents them from getting sick. Also, a pet will not get hungry unless you log in. While you are logged out, all stats stay the same. Although it's a good idea to put your pet to bed before logging out so they stay healthy. It's really not hard to keep them healthy - just don't feed them too much junk food!
The chat rooms are very safe, since kids can not just type in anything they want. They have to use pre-written phrases in order to talk to others. No personal information can be shared, and noone can say anything bad. I LOVE this option, since it gives the kids a chance to interact but it can't get anymore safe.

has a very nice selection to buy Webkinz stuffed animals online. When you shop here though, you'll want to save on shipping by buying from the same store or directly from Amazon. To give you more options, Amazon does have different stores listed. When we bought our Webkinz, we did it from two different stores and had to pay two different shipping costs. One way Webkinz is able to offer so much to do online and be able to constantly update is by having different Webkinz available all the time. for charm bracelets, Webkinz trading cards which can be played both offline and online, and even Webkinz clothes for your Webkinz stuffed animal. All of course come with codes for extra items online. The best part of Webkinz is the ability to play both online and offline. There are no membership fees for the online site, although you have just a year to play on your account unless you adopt another pet (your year starts over if you add another pet to the account). Even still, a year is a long time to play for the small cost when you buy Webkinz stuffed animals. Very much worth the money for all the activities kids can do!
