Snow Day Recipes & Activities

December 12th, 2007

Yesterday was a snow day for us. School was canceled as we knew it would be, so we had absolutely nowhere to be. It’s nice sometimes to be able to take a snow day, where you can just stay inside and do nothing. Or take the day to get all those things done you usually don’t have time for.

Since our tree arrived the night before, we took part of the day to decorate. It was fun pulling out all the decorations we’ve made in the past (see the previous post about our ornament craft we do every year). I realized though I’m going to have to string up all the ornaments we made just last year because I ran out of time. I’d forgotten about that until I saw them.

Now since I knew we weren’t going anywhere yesterday, I figured it was a great day to make a roast. I’ve had one sitting in the freezer for dang near a month, and it was time to get it made.

I attempted to work yesterday, but it just wasn’t happening. The kids were way too excited watching the weather and really couldn’t wait to get all the decorations up on the tree. Then we had a glitter accident, so I knew my attention had to be on them yesterday. Ah well, a day off is nice right?

In addition to cooking and decoration, we all managed to get some much needed housework done. Christmas is less than 2 weeks away, and our family gatherings start this weekend. At least this year they are a little more spaced out and I have a little more time in between each to clean. Yes Christmas really is that close, so if you are needing to get housework done, now is the time to do it!

While our list of snow day activities may not be too exciting, we’d love to hear what you do when you are stuck in the house!
