Homemade Sewing Projects: Lounge Pants

Sewing at joann.com Fabric at joann.com

One of the easiest projects to start with when you are starting out, or for those that love to make special gifts. This was the first project I ever did myself, and it was very very easy. If you have never made lounge pants befor, I do recommend a pattern to get you started. I did not use one, but wished I would have. Rough instructions are below, but I really do recommend reading instructions from a pattern for your first time.

Lounge Pants Instructions

Here's what you'll need:

Fabric
Matching Thread
Needle
Pins
Elastic
Pattern (optional - see pattern options below)

Follow the pattern, or cut 4 pieces of fabric (front right, front left, back right, back left). Sew front and back pieces together at leg. Turn one finished leg inside out and place other inside, matching up waist line. Sew together leaving waist open. Pull leg out and finish hems on each leg. Sew hem on waistline, leaving space for elastic to be fed through. (I'm sure there are easier ways to do this, but it's this is the way I do it). Finished!

Available Lounge Pants Patterns

If you are new to sewing lounge pants, I highly suggest a pattern. I normally get my patterns from ebay, because most the time they are cheaper. Below you will find the current auctions to date on patterns specifically for lounge pants. This section is updated hourly, and auctions displayed below will always be current.
