Organizing Your Craft Room by Idea Queen

Organizing Your Craft Room

Before we start organzing your craft room, let's first take a minute to appreciate the fact you HAVE a craft room. You are a lucky person if all your craft items can be stored in a separate room! Even if the room is a complete mess right now, you should still be lucky it's not in your living room or other areas of the house.

For organizing products, we recommend checking out Organize.com. We highly support this website, and have found all the organizing products you could ever need here. They have a lot of perfect products specifically for organizing your craft room, which we have mentioned a bit below.

Cases for Small Parts

To keep all your little items all in one place, you are going to need some sort of case. It doesn't matter what goes in it, but it needs to be able to hold all those little parts. Keeping them all separate and organized is important! You don't want to spend all your time sifting through a mass amount of beads or other small parts.

If you check out Organize.com, you can find lots of storage containers under crafts. Check out the "Jewely and Beading" section for lots of great storage ideas for smaller parts.

Cases for Larger Parts

For slightly larger items such as thread, fabric scrapbs, rubber stamps, and other items, you'll need a slighly larger box than you would for jewelry and beads. The idea is organizing, so you'll want to put all like items in one place. All your scraps go in one place, thread in another, etc.

Also in the craft section of Organize.com you'll find lots of storage options for your slightly larger items. See "Hobby Cases" for a list of different multi-purpose containers. To make the most of your space, be sure you look specifically at the containers that are stackable.

Specific Hobby Organizing

Each hobby needs different organizing. If you do mostly jewelry, you'll want mostly smaller cases. If you do scrapbooking, you'll want some system for organizing papers and other trinkets.

At Organize.com, you can find categories for the most popular crafts. There are separate sections for scrapbooking, rubber stamping, jewelry and beading, sewing and knitting, etc. There are also a few sections (which we mentioned above) that have more "general" storage containers for all crafts. All these can be found under the main category "Crafts" and "Organizers".

Storage Cabinets

Now if you have just way too many items and need something a bit bigger, you might want to check out the storage cabinets. These are not as expensive as you might think, and hold large amounts of items. In fact, a 64 drawer cabinet costs less than $30! If you are serious about organizing your craft room, a cabinet is a must. Especially when they are this cost effective!
