Kids Gift Ideas - Toy Collections
If your child has piles of toys that are rarely touched, here's an idea that might help cut down on the clutter and focus on one type of toy for longer periods of time.I've noticed a real problem with my kid's toys lately, and we have a hard time keeping it organized due to the number of different types of toys they have. We have started to take care of this problem though, and it IS getting better.
When I was a child I had a lot of toys. However, I had mostly sets of toys like Care Bears, My Little Pony, etc. This kept down on the clutter since all of one collection stayed in one box together. Before Christmas or their next birthday party, pay close attention to what types of toys interest them. Spiderman
? Spongebob? My Little Pony? Care Bears? Baby Dolls? Make a short list if you need to. Finding sets of some of the more popular toys isn't all that hard to do. Let family members know what collections they have and what is missing from them. My children have an entire set of toy food that is growing, as well as accessories to go along with it. We are building on this collection, and it's very easy to buy just one or two items at a time. It's much easier to keep all the food and accessories in one area, and it's easier for the children to learn how to keep their toys in one place.
My daughter loves her baby dolls although this isn't something I was interested in as a child. For her birthday and Christmas we normally get her something to go along with her dolls. If you hit a more popular collection such as anything Spiderman, it's even easier to find accessories to go along with current toys your child may have.
The best part of building on a collection is you have more valuable toys for your children to either pass on to their children, or keep as collectables later on. My mother still has her original 50s Barbie with several accessories making it more valuable. I still have a collection of over 40 My Little Ponies and accessories (which I played with during my entire childhood), along with other sets of toys.
When gift-giving time comes around, make sure your family members have a list of items that interest your child and of their growing collection. Not only will having more of the same toy keep their interest longer, but it makes it much easier to keep their toys organized and they will end up with more valuable toys in the future.
